In order to realize the use of halal and herbal-based cosmetics, it is necessary to develop cosmetic formulations using herbal ingredients. Peel-off gel masks, which are very easy to use, can be formulated with herbal extracts, such as Centella asiatica (L.) Urb leaf extract, as the active ingredient for skin care The aim of this research is to determine the optimization and physical characteristics of the Pegagan leaf extract peel-off gel mask (Centella asiatica (L.) Urb). The design of this research is experimental laboratory research. Experiments were carried out to determine variations in PVA and HPMC concentrations in making the optimum formula. Based on the results, the optimum formula for the composition of PVA AND HPMC in making peel-off gel mask preparations was obtained. The best formula for peel-off gel mask preparations was obtained in formula 8, namely with a base concentration of 13% PVA and 2% HPMC. Variations in the concentration of PVA and HPMC in the preparation affect the results of evaluating the physical characteristics of the peel-off gel mask preparation.
